Welcome to the
Second Annual Wings and Wildflowers Festival

The beautiful Hickory Point Recreational Park will be the primary grounds for the Second Annual Wings and Wildflowers Festival!

Birds flock to Lake County, which is home to thousands of acres of preserves and passive park lands – including Ferndale Preserve, Emeralda Marsh and the Hilochee Wildlife Management Area.  Lake County has enticing outdoor recreational opportunities, particularly for birders, and the Wings and Wildflowers Festival will offer visitors an opportunity to fall in love with Lake County’s birds, wildflowers and natural areas.

The Festival is honored to welcome back national television celebrity James Currie, host of the popular NBC Sports show, Nikon's Birding Adventures as one of the Keynote speakers. We are also excited to welcome acclaimed birder, Jeffrey Gordon, current president of the American Birding Association as another keynote speaker!

Festival-goers will learn about the charismatic Florida Scrub-jay and the unique Florida scrub habitat. Other specialty field trips will be offered to area preserves and pristine public lands. Unique birding programs will be available by kayak, pontoon boats and trams!

We are currently trekking through Lake County finding the best locations for festival adventures. Some activities have already been scheduled and are available for registration on the Events & Activities page. Additional information about ongoing activities will be available on the Exhibits & Shows page.

With Lake County’s reputation as a premier birding location, it is the goal of this festival to enhance awareness and appreciation of Lake County’s quality of life, and support environmental initiatives on behalf of citizens and visitors alike.
